Peter S. Staats, MD, MBA was the founder of the Division of Pain Medicine at Johns Hopkins University, which he directed for 10 years. Dr. Staats is internationally recognized for his work in developing and implementing minimally invasive procedures for chronic pain. He is a past President of the North American Neuromodulation Society, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, New Jersey Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the World Institute of Pain and the Southern Pain Society. He is currently President and Chairman of the Vagus Nerve Society. Dr. Staats has written or co-edited 14 books which have been translated in to multiple languages and close to 600 articles, abstracts, monographs, and book chapters on pain medicine and neuromodulation. He holds multiple patents on novel treatments for pain and neuromodulation. He is the recipient of numerous lifetime achievement awards including ASIPP, ASPN, NANS and others
