Medical Student
Campbell University
Holly Springs, North Carolina
I am a third-year medical student at the Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM), deeply committed to the core principles of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation—restoring function, reducing pain, and enhancing quality of life through integrative, patient-centered care. My journey in medicine has been shaped by a strong foundation in clinical research, a growing proficiency in medical data analytics using AI, and a persistent curiosity about the interplay between the mind and body in healing.
Prior to my formal research fellowship, I collaborated on clinical trial design at the North Carolina Center for Neurostimulation, where I contributed to studies focused on non-invasive brain stimulation as a treatment modality for neuropsychiatric and functional impairments. This experience sparked a long-standing interest in neuromodulation and the emerging science of placebo responsiveness, especially in the context of pain management. I am particularly fascinated by how expectancy, perception, and neuroplasticity can be ethically and strategically harnessed within rehabilitation medicine to improve outcomes for patients with treatment-resistant symptoms.
As a Campbell University Medical Research Fellow, I explored how the semantics of treatment framing—particularly the language and context surrounding therapeutic delivery—interact with individual psychometric variability to influence subjective well-being outcomes. This work reflects my broader interest in the cognitive and affective dimensions of pain modulation, and how they can be ethically leveraged to optimize non-pharmacologic treatment strategies. Prior to this, I served as the primary research coordinator for multiple cardiology clinical trials at Northwell Health, where I managed protocol implementation and longitudinal patient engagement. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked throughout the hospital system to facilitate the deployment of novel therapies for critically ill patients, reinforcing my commitment to adaptive, interdisciplinary, and impact-driven care.
Across my research endeavors, I have also developed strong skills in leveraging artificial intelligence for medical data analytics—using it to uncover patterns, drive insights, and enhance the precision of clinical research. As I look ahead, I am eager to contribute to the field of PM&R by integrating emerging technologies, mind-body therapeutics, and osteopathic principles to address complex rehabilitation challenges and deliver holistic care to patients navigating disability and chronic illness.
