Dr. Thomas M. Motyka is Chair of the Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine. With over 25 years of experience in academic medicine and clinical practice, Dr. Motyka is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine. He completed his medical degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, residency at Cambridge Hospital/Harvard Medical School, and holds an MSc in Evidence-Based Health Care from the University of Oxford.
Dr. Motyka’s career has centered on advancing osteopathic principles within internal medicine, focusing on evidence-based manual therapies. He has served as program director and associate program director for multiple residency programs, led curricular innovation in osteopathic manipulative medicine, and directed research fellowships. His scholarly work includes numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and invited presentations on osteopathic techniques, musculoskeletal medicine, and integrative approaches to patient care. He is a contributing editor for the upcoming fifth edition of "Foundations of Osteopathic Medicine" and is a peer reviewer for leading journals in the field.
A recognized leader in the osteopathic community, Dr. Motyka is an active member of the American College of Osteopathic Internists, serving on both the Research Committee and Climate Change Task Force. He is also an Educational Council on Osteopathic Principles member and has held leadership roles in state and national osteopathic organizations. Dr. Motyka’s commitment to education, research, and clinical excellence positions him as a driving force in integrating osteopathic manipulative medicine into internal medicine practice, and he is dedicated to empowering physicians to innovate and lead in patient-centered, non-pharmacological care.
