Dr. Emily McGovern received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island. She completed her PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency and PGY-2 Pain Management and Palliative Care Pharmacy Residency at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY. She has been serving as the Pain Management, Opioid Safety, and Prescription Drug Monitoring Coordinator at the Stratton VA Medical Center since 2022. Within this role, she spends 20% of her time in a clinical role, seeing Veterans for pain medication management, and 80% of her time in pain management and opioid safety administration. She works directly with facility and regional leadership to ensure facility compliance with laws, directives, and policies and improve the safety of Veterans prescribed opioids. She participates in multiple committees including as chair of the Pain Management Oversight Committee and leader for the High-Risk Overdose Review team. She served as the chair for the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Pain Management and Palliative Care PRN in 2023-2024, participates in research, and has multiple publications.
